Stalybridge box to the east of Manchester is a lever fram e box operating colour light signals. The box on the northern TPE route to Leeds and Manchester works mainly TCB but also AB to Ashton Moss North. Here trains can be routed to Victoria via Ashton Moss North or Picadilly via Guide Bridge.
Unfortunately due to close in November 2012 as part of the East Manchester resignalling.

Ashton Moss North Jct on the north eastern edge of Manchester works the Victoria to Stalybridge route and is absolute block with semaphores. This is a junction also for the route to Guide Bridge and was once an outpost of 1500v DC overhead wiring to a small yard here.

Ashburys Box on the Manchester (Piccadilly) to Guide Bridge line closed Sunday 18th September 2011. This box control routes to Guide Bridge (Stalybridge and the former Woodhead line beyond), the route to Romiley (New Mills beyond and once the main route from Sheffield) and also the connectionto the Victoria lines via Philips Park Jct).

A Grade 5 NX panel also control daily aggregates trains in to the adjacent stone terminal and the western entrance to Adwick TPE depot.

Clipstone on the Shirebrook to Thoresby line, the next box from Thoresby towards Shirebrook. This box stands at the triangular junction the southern conergence leads to to the former Mansfield Concentration sidings and to various collieries all now closed. The box also controls the re-opened Welbeck line, trains having to pass the box twice travelling to and from Thoresby to run round.

It controls the lines from Manchester Picadilly to the former Woodhesd route and to Leeds vis Stalybridge. Additional lines from Romiley and the route from Stckport (Heaton Norris Jct ) join from the western end.

Once the site of the DC 1500v elctrifiefied stabling sidngs the now stands some way back from the nearest lines.
